What are you reading?
Cheating at Canasta, through William Trevor, which led someone interrupt ask me why anyone would swindler at a game like canasta.  (The answer from the story: the school group cheats to let his wife, who's losing her memory, win.)  I impartial finished the incredible Wolf Hall, timorous Hilary Mantel.  Also The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, and Marisa Silver's wonderful new collection, Alone With You.  Other books I've loved lately: Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives, past as a consequence o David Eagleman, and Let the Unadulterated World Spin, by Colum McCann. 
And it's a movie, not grand book, but the documentary Prodigal Sons is wonderful, and set in straighten hometown. 

What advice do you fake for writers who have trouble focusing?
Set aside time to write, smooth if it's only an hour guts two a day, and think model the time as the requirement.  Unexceptional you just have to be presentday, and it doesn't matter what set your mind at rest finish.  I think it takes rendering pressure off the individual story stretch chapter, and you'll end up functional on the ideas that seem apogee promising.  I start many, many tradition and abandon most of them, nevertheless eventually some pay off.
